Yes, made further confounding when it is assumed (or claimed) that they (the phenomena pointed to) are the same and/or are all agreed upon (as belonging) and use a universally held and understood language of reference.
To my mind, the preponderance of evidence points to the contrary (There readily appears to be no universally defined, understood and accepted collection of phenomena or vocabulary.) If this is so, we should, at least initially, see more discordance as communication becomes more universal. I think I see this. However, in time, there may be a "norming" effect as humans seem to like to do that. I think I see that happening now as well. But it takes time, and it is messy.
