Re: Looking Back on Twenty Years of AikiWeb

Jun, I want to let you know that I admire what you have done - and keep on doing - with AikiWeb.

It may be about a traditional Japanese martial art, with all that this entails, but it is a forum devoted to free speech and exchange of thought. Voltaire would have applauded it.

Many things amaze me with AikiWeb. Let me mention two:

1
You have made it very clear that AikiWeb accepts no aikido hierarchy in the discussions here. Neither grade nor seniority are reasons to claim authority. On AikiWeb we all speak as equals.

2
You guard civility. However different our standpoints may be, it is never an excuse to be rude. Trolls have to go elsewhere - or learn manners.

I realize that the two things above add up to this simple principle, which is also at the very core of aikido:

Mutual respect.

Congrats on the twenty years gone and the twenty to come!

Now, I think I'll click that discreet link of yours. It's far too long ago I did it last
