Mirror of the past verses today

The more I read the forums, the more I find that real advice is find out for yourself.

I guess you can listen to people about what you look like, what your reflection looks like verses actually looking in the mirror and seeing for yourself what it is?

Sometimes we can do something we think is one way in our minds, as interpreted by our senses, then when we see the film or video it looks nothing like what we thought it would be?

Point being ...

Do you learn from watching a film or video of your Aikido practice?

Does it, in fact, drive home many of the mistakes or improper movements you thought you had mastered?

What changes would you make to have the form and effectiveness you seek from Aikido practice?

This is something Y. Yamada brings up in one of his videos, and having gone to a seminar today with Yamada sensei, it came to mind.
