I bought a cheap-as-crap lathe in a pawn shop, made it longer with some square tubing, and channel iron, now I have a turned jo that I made for myself. I am making several others for friends, and I just wanted to screw around with a wood-lathe anyway.
There is an exotic wood store fairly close and I can get cocbolo and hickory, & several other woods.
I wonder what folks would give for a jo made of these exotic woods?
Maybe I will post a couple on e-bay. Fun to sand and finish it by hand too.(gotta love linsseed oil)
