Re: Transmission, Inheritance, Emulation 8
Hello Allen, Chuck, Mark,
For the moment, think of these columns as the expression of almost three decades of pent-up energy, amassed in coping with the ura of aikido. I think the omote is known to most practitioners overseas. But, as we have all been told by our respective senseis, ura and omote are two sides of the same coin--and I am in a position to take this quite literally.
As for a book, well, I wrote my PhD in ancient philosophy under the guidance of three of the best professors in the field. However, the professor who gave me the closest guidance never wrote a book, on the grounds that the knowledge expounded therein became obsolete, almost immediately after publication.
Since Jun Akiyama has kindly afforded me a platform, I plan to continue with these columns and the present output is about one third of the expected whole.
I really hope that people will closely examine what I have written and give me comments and questions, however difficult this might be.
Best wishes,
PAG
