Here's an article entitled
"Fusing aikido and language studies a potent combination" highlights Akiko Tamura, 6th dan, in Yokohama, Japan who started aikido in the early 60's as a way to combat her anorexia. In the 70's, she traveled through Europe to study aikido and languages. She now teaches aikido and languages in Yokohama.
From the article: "With all her work in the international communities of aikido and beyond, Tamura realizes there are many reasons to study martial arts or learn a new language, but for her, opening the door to new experiences and providing stability within her own uncertainties has given her a lifelong faith in aikido and being open to other cultures."
