Ahem... if peace was really "our natural state", donīt you think that world history would have more peaceful periods? Instead, it is a story of continuous conflict everywhere. Up to the tiniest tribes in the Amazon, who spend their non-food gathering time in fighting their neighbour tribe.
I would rather think the goal is to manage conflict, rather than to dream of natural peace.
