I would say that Aikido is violent. I would also point out that there are levels of violence. We do a martial art (or, at least, I do
) Ikkyo and nikkyo can be violent. But the effects vary based on how far we carry the technique. I can use a nikkyo to project someone away from me, pin them onto the ground till help arrives/ they calm down, or follow up the pin with something like a stomp to the back of the neck for a lethal finish.
