It really just goes to prove that your mileage may vary. I trained at Brisbane Aikikai for a while and in the wake of some unpleasant internecine happenings at my first aikido club back in the UK, it was an experience that restored my faith in aikido and its practitioners. I think this is a kind of Crocodile Dundee "You call that a knife/city" situation: I really enjoyed my time as an exchange student in Adelaide and only regret that I didn't train while I was there. I was somewhat overwhelmed by the size of the city coming from the UK .
