Great Article Lynn! Your example of X as a multiplier reminded me of another use of X -- as a vector description. We've been working on this principle in the dojo, where you redirect the force vector. So, if you get an attack on the X axis, you direct your energy to the Y or Z axis (or I guess optimally a spiral, creating infinite tangents).
