Great point! And would the next stage be to try to help the other person out of the state of fear?
Forgiving other people is intrinsic to many religions. Forgiveness might be important for our own spiritual well-being and perhaps even our physical health. But is forgiving
ourselves letting ourselves off a bit too lightly?
You also mention clarity, compassion and courage. All fundamental to budo. Clarity was already one of your c words but it could be a head start for the
next alphabet cycle! It's a great concept for your columns.
By the way normally I try to avoid the f word you didn't use but I used it in my
