Timely my asking this question, as I have just (literally, 2 hours ago) found out my sensei's sensei (no, not the one who passed away) is coming from Japan in about 3 weeks, and I will be testing from nidan at that time. 2 practices a day are being planned, and that will require me using both haks.

My sensei here says "Sure, go ahead and hem it. It's yours!", as I suspected he would.
