Reminds me of the Samurai saying:
"The difference between life and death (In Aikido, the success or failure of a technique) should be as thin as a sheet of paper.
I remeber reading William Gleason's explanation of this in "The Spiritual Foundations of Aikido"
The close tolerances involved and required seem almost divine in nature. No wonder some folks wanted private tutoring from the Tengu.
