Here is another tip on connection. When you practice grabbing your partners Gi don’t just grad a hand full of material. Grab with the little finger first and then close the hand from the little finger up gathering in material as you grab. This will assist you taking out the slack. To practice this grab you partners sleeve by grabbing a hand full of material then pull down hard and try to unbalance your partner. The slack in the cloth will eat up the technique. Now grab the sleeve starting with the little finger and gather in the material downward as you close your hand. You will find the slack gone and when you pull down now your partner will most likely move now. This is just and exercise to help understand how taking out the slack between you and your partner can help you learn to get a better connection.
