I think we're having a mixup between the ideas of "cosmology", which has to do with the
nature of the universe and "religion", although of course there are some relationships which are used to tie a religion into a cosmology.
Maybe if we understand that a number of different religious beliefs in Asia were still based on the same cosmology, it becomes clearer?
