First training after knee surgery

Today will be my first training after having had knee surgery.
It will be a weapons class and I will do solo excercises only just to regain the feel of movement and to avoid unexpected movements due to interaction with a partner.
Looking forward to it and nervous at the same time

Re: First training after knee surgery

Ekic, I've returned to training twice following knee surgeries (and will do so a third time soon; just recovering from a minor arthroscopy). I found that there are both physical and emotional fear issues on returning to training, so be sensitive to them and respect the physical, in terms of really letting your return to training be at your body's needed pace, while not letting emotional issues hold you back.
Some of this we talked about in our first Mirror column http://www.aikiweb.com/columns/themirror/2004_03.html
best of luck

Well, everything went very well. I had set up the following rules for myself: Only solo excercises and stop when the knee starts to feel or gets swollen. I did stick to those rules and had a marvelous time.
Couldnt do irimi-tenkan excercises with a 180 degree turn but with a 90 degree turn worked perfectly.

Sounds like you gave gained some wisdom. Deepest compliments.

I didn't have surgery, but have had to rahb the knees. When I returned to training, I talked with Sensei and whenever my knees feel a bit tired I take it easy. Gets stronger with time. Still do the physical therapy exercises as prevention. Carry knee wraps just in case.

Welcome back.
