keeping your pants up

I've been wearing hakama for almost 3 years now and I'll be damned if i can keep the front panel from falling below my knot during a 5 hour practice. I already wrap the chords through the obi (more than once  ) and tuck it in behind the knot.

Is there some secret to keeping my pants up during long training sessions?

Re-tie it during a break?

You DO take a break within that 5 hour period, don't you?

/shrug That's the only thing I can think of.

GOOD LUCK! :D

velcro? or get stitched into them.

I had the same problem and solved it with a slight adaptation. I start with tying the back himo and then pull the front ones over my obi, pulling the front of the hakima over and down so far that it starts to disturb the natural drape of the fabric. Then I loop vertically each himo over my obi again. That sucker is going nowhere.

Stop and re-tie it? Maybe when (if) you go to the bathroom, or get a drink?

Only between the classes and most of the time im managing kids or answering questions of parents or doing dojo related stuff. Not alot of time in between the bow out and sensei's clap to tie again.

Thanks charles, I'll try that method out.

If it fails i will then try the staples.

When all else fails: duct tape or bailing wire. Wait! That's autobody repair, never mind.

Funny, my hakama rides nicely, my gi-pants seem to be overly affected by gravity when worn alone.

It's all a matter of how you tie your Ubi and your Hakama. Try this link
