Did Morihei Ueshiba, the founder. Study some martial arts when he went to China?

Look what Gerzon Tuazon writes in the link , Jun Akiyama. "Ueshiba Sensei was indeed influenced by Chinese martial arts...arts like T'ai Chi which incorporates soft circular motions are somewhat analogous to Aiki...-ju-jitsu or -DO"

I know the fact that the founder practice Daito ju-jutsu and other ju-jutsu styles. i don't know you but i have seen this martial arts at the all japan's demonstration, and i don't get how the founder could get so fast, flexible and smooth from only ju-jutsu.
