Whats the name of the Aiki improvised throws...?
I read something about it in a book, just wondered if you peeps know anything about them. I think the author refered to them as Takamusu aiki?
Takemusu Aiki means spontaneous AIki rather than improvised. After kihon waza (basic technique) you can move on to oyo waza (advanced technique), this is where you are likely to see throws that look as if they may be "improvised".
Cheers, thats what I thought.
HENKA-when you change a technique mid-course.
KAESHI-when you reverse a technique on NAGE.
Actually, TAKEMUSU AIKI covers it, too. Saotome defines this as something like "creative spontaneous harmony."
All these terms probably overlap anyway.
The problem, I think, is more likely "improvisation" than the Jpn. Ideally, all is improvisation. The stuff we do in class--KATA--is just training to reach that.
