Hello Everybody
I currently live in a location where there is not instructors for aikido and was wondering if its possible to self train. I have see the art but moved before I had a chance to join. If its possible does anybody know any links to online training sites, hints or tips. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks Ben Woodhead |
you can't hope to achieve proficiency in any art, especially one like Aikido where you 'learn by feeling.'
I speak from experience, because I tried to learn iaido from a book- I learned _about_ iaido from that book, but I wouldn't dare say I've had any iaido 'training.' -Nick |

They have a section on Technical Tips listed on the left side of the homepage. You can also see Round Earth Publishing at http://www.round-earth.com/ They have two books "Ki In Aikido: A Sampler of Ki Exercises" and "Ki Exercises for Teaching and Training" both by C,M. Shifflett, that could introduce you to Aikido movement through solo practice. Ultimately, though, I have to agree with Nick, in that you need to find a teacher to study with in order to gain any kind of proficiency in Aikido. |
