Proper Gi Size for Tall and Lanky?

So I'm 6' tall and 160 pounds. It seems like to get the right height I end up with choices like XL and L. I generally wear a medium when it comes to shirts and jackets.

If I don't have a 'tall' option, is it better to have a better fitting but short gi or a correct length but too much excess fabric adding bulk and weight?

Iwata has a "tall" option. Try them.

How about getting the right length, and then having it tailored to remove the excess fabric? That added bulk will be pretty unpleasant once you're warm and sweaty.
