mutual recognition between Systema and Aikido
My friend just sent me a clip of short interview/discussion between Hiroshi Ikeda (7th dan Aikikai) and Mikhail Ryabko (Systema Head Instructor/Founder), who were acknowledging each other's arts and abilities after co-running a seminar together in Russia.

At a personal level, i suppose it also vindicates my training in both arts too... :o

Re: mutual recognition between Systema and Aikido
The systema people I've come across with a few years of experience behind them are quite effective. I like their stuff, from both a theoretical as well as practical standpoint. I can't quite wrap my mind around the teaching methods, though, but that's just me. Lots of folks like it and take to it quickly. I think too much kick-punch in the background somehow, maybe.

Re: mutual recognition between Systema and Aikido
There was an article published recently on Systema in the Australian edition of Blitz magazine. In it they mention Aikido to the Systema instructor and ask about similarities and so forth, he answers that he feels he is not qualified to answer the question because he is not an Aikidoa, yet he acknowledges that over the years he has seen several Aikido students do very well at the Systema Techniques.
