YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
|
Re: Bear Jo Kata
Very cute find! Reminds me in parts of the color guard's rifle work way back in marching band. :p

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
Give the bear a shave and a high 'n tight haircut and he could serve on the Silent Drill Team. Oooorah!

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
Wow! As if bears weren't dangerous enough..... Now I gotta deal with a jo swinging master bear?
Is this one of us in another life? |
Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
That looks too fake for me. The flip and catch part......I don't know. I just can't see a bear doing the fancy spins then flipping it and catching it.

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
Believe it or not...it's supposed to be real.
I was skeptical too, but CNN checked into the story and even called keepers at the Japanese zoo who confirmed that the footage was authentic. Here's a link to the CNN story. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/spo...iref=allsearch I guess nature just surprises us occasionally. |

The expert claims that this phenomena is not natural, in the sense that it's beyond animal usage of complex tools. This seems to me a kind of relief: despite what is seen in this video, it is still unlikely to meet a jo wielding bear while hiking (or on the street) :D |
Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
The bear is showing how easy and natural jo kata is.
One could save some money and time in their training by buying a ticket to the zoo and attending class with Sensei Bear. :) David |
Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
:yuck: It would never work in a fight. Come to my dojo and have a lesson, bear!

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
How adorable! It does look like rifle work I used to do in winter guard. :)

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
Yep, universe, I get it. My jo technique is rubbish. :o I'm working on it.

Re: YouTube: Bear Jo Kata
OK - so who put Saito Sensei in the bear suite ? :D

Testing modification for all Dan ranks
I'd like to propose that all Dan tests include Jotori... against a bear!
