Unable to reply to some threads
 

I wanted to post a reply to http://www.aikiweb.com/forums/showth...235#post196235 but got a message

Marc Kupper, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

This thread is also missing the "quick reply" box that's at the bottom of other threads.

The puzzle is - I just tested with many other threads, some new, some old, and am allowed to post replies, and start new threads. It's just that one thread (so far) that I can't reply to despite multiple attempts. I've tried post-reply and quote. This one thread is missing the "quick reply" box that's at the bottom of other threads and so I can't test that.

That's the Voices of Experience area. You have to have certain qualifiers to post in those threads. Go to the thread title and look at the charter. Or just go here:

Thank you very much Mark - I had missed that entirely as I picked up the thread from the AikiWeb home page and I was not aware that forums could be restricted and thus could trigger the "unable to post" message. I wonder if there are many people like me that never browse threads by forum meaning we ignore the line that says "AikiWeb Aikido Forums > Voices of Experience" and thus would not click through to learn about VOE which looks like a great idea and forum in terms of signal to noise.

Fixing the currently generic "insufficient rights to post" error to be more tailored sounds like a fun Christmas challenge for Jun. ;)
