Aikido Videos

I'm very interested in Aikido but currently don't have a whole bunch of time nor the money to spend on it. To get started though I thought I'd get some training vids. I know it will be no where near as good but could anybody recommend some titles?

Thanks

Don't buy video tapes.

Try to find local aikido dojos using
your yellow page or 'aikiweb dojo search'
Most dojos will allow you to watch a class
or even join a class for free.

If you have never done Aikido, it will be difficult to follow a video. Also, without a partner and a good space to practice as well as a safe place to learn how to fall and roll, you won't get far but to answer your question, the series by Rev. Kenso Furuya is probably the easiest instructional series for beginners that I have seen and it could be helpful to give you an introduction into Aikido.

Ah, how nice, I will mention to Furuya Sensei that you found his tapes helpful!

Yes, when I started in aikido, I found the tapes clear and easy to understand and containing a good and accurate overview of the art. As I have progressed in my practice (I am now 1st Dan) and beginners ask about videos, I always recommend his tapes. Unfortunately, I was a flood victim here in Houston and my tapes were all lost in the 4 feet of water that came in the house. At any rate, they were a great help to me.
