Reuse, recycle....

So Bujin is back and I am getting a new hakama after 15 years on the old one. It is shot in the knees, just like me.

Any clever ideas what to do with the old one? It looks like those acid washed, blown out knee jeans that other folks paid money for and stagehands just made new pairs of every day.

I think I found a nifty way to turn an old gi top into a weapons and gi bag with very little alteration, I can make simple grocery sacks out of old gis and worn belts, I want to do something nifty with the old hak. Besides making a wall hanging out of it.

I for one would like to see your pattern for those bags made out of old gi. Sorry I've no suggestions for the old hakama.

Oh no, a new thread with a question hanging within easy reach.... somebody stop me.... I am going to really show my age now....

In my mother's day, ladies had dressing tables. Hers was kitty corner on a dressing room wall and the glass cube wall separating the adequate dressing room portion from the small by today's standards sink, tub, and toidy portion....

Not a lesson in retro decor, just that the first thing that came to my mind is...... denim colored or black.......

A Dressing Table Skirt
(in the old days hid the numerous cosmetic bottles and jars from view)

Am I a girl or what to have this be the first idea I come up with?

Fortunately I can still do a wicked nikyo or yonkyo according to my husband who does karate....

Keep it for patching your new one when your new one becomes your old one :-)

I dont have a pattern, but go here for my inspiration.

Go to the tote bag link at the bottom of the left frame to see the bags. I think they're cool and almost self explanatory. Not only that, Iwata makes rocking excellent hakamas. And then, there's the joy of reading so much Engrish in one place.
