Just wanted to know?

How many of you enjoy coming to this Aikido site even though you you do not take Aikido for what ever reason?

Re: Just wanted to know?

This is an interesting question, because I know we have regular posters that do not practice Aikido.

Re: Just wanted to know?

Well count me in...sorta. I still practice Aikido when I can, usually 3-4 seminars a year at the moment. I miss the training, but I don't have much time for it as I am devoting all of my free time to Sambo at the moment. That being said, I'm going to be hitting up my first seminar of the year (and seeing a lot of old friends) this weekend so I'm pretty stoked!

I really appreciate the time, money, and effort that Jun devotes to the site because it still gives me an avenue with which to interact with fellow Aikido practitioners. We don't give him enough credit really. It's an awesome thing he has done.

Re: Just wanted to know?

When I first started coming to Aikiweb I wasn't studying Aikido and it gave me a really good heads up of what Aikido was on and off the mat. It also prepared me for what to expect when I eventually did start studying the art.

The years of experience here from everyone that posts is invaluable and if you were to put all this information into a book and sell it, well Jun would be a millionaire. I thank Jun and everyone else that contributes to Aikiweb very very much and hope that it goes on forever so all Aikidoka have the same opportunity as I did to learn from this site.

With many thanks
Ben :)

If you really want to show your appreciation to Jun it is only $9.95/year to become a contributing member to Aikiweb.

Not only does it help offset the cost of running a quality site such as this, which is substancial, it also gets you some added benefits as a contributing member.

Something to think about. :)

Re: Just wanted to know?

I started visiting Aikiweb about a month or so before I made the leap and started training in Aikido (7 months ago). The site was very informative, in that it gave me not only varying opinions on different topics, but it was "real time". It's much more interesting to follow recent postings than to read a website info page that was written 5 years ago.

Although it took actual "mat time" for me to decide that it was the right art for me, this site was helpful in my wanting to even "try it out".

(Thanks Aiki web, BAWK BAWK!)

Re: Just wanted to know?

I'm guilty of lurking off and on for the past three years or so. Moving from Kansas City to North Carolina interrupted my first plans to begin aikido, and after moving and getting settled in I ended up doing capoeira at Raleigh Aikikai for about 9 months. Being exposed regularly to aikido via the school rekindled my desire to begin, so now here I am, ready to *finally* begin classes in May. During all this time I've always been fascinated with the information and discussions on this site.

With only the occasional exception, most people on here are very genuine, helpful, respectful, and generous with their time, experience, and other resources. Kind of like your typical Aikido dojo, that... This is an art that seems to attract and encourage that kind of behavior... :)
