Under the Hakama?
Hi!
Just to spin off the thread about "Hakamas good or bad"... -What do you wear under your Hakama? And if there are any Scottish people out there, keep your answer to yourself. :D Best wishes, Patrik |

Gi-trousers and my 'shorts'
|
We don't have the option of ditching the Gi pants. Hot or cold, knee walking (OUCH!!!) or not, the trousers stay under the hakama's.
I figure if your wearing a hakama along with your jacket you're going to sweat, so why not have your trousers on under to wick away the moisture? Less time washing your hakama and more time to nurse your bruises ;) |

. . . . . . Covered by gi pants. . . . . . encased in boxer shorts Descriptive enough? ;-) |
We do a lot of hard breakfalls. Freeballing ends up being very uncomfortable.

Bob,
I'm sure everyone is very grateful for your modesty. If there's one thing I find very disconcerting, it's seeing vast expanses of naked skin through the side-vents of a hakama. |
Bob, I usually leave my genitals in the locker before practise... :)
|
-A few Japanese visitors came the other day and they obviously didn't wear anything under their hakamas.
-I have personally found out from my kendo practice that wearing a hakama without gi pants, and most important, without belt, is the most comfortable way of practice. The kendo gi is not open on the sides so that Linda wouldn't see "vast expanses of naked skin". -One really appreciates a thick fabric gi pants and hakama after a long session of suwari waza. |

You magnificant bastard, you ;-) Why I bet that would come in "handy" (ahah ha ha) in all sorts of situations. Tell me, is there a prefered wrench or spanner set one should use? |

Just get married if you want detachable testes. The wife will always have you by them.
Yamada sensei calls it "cheating" even if you wear the cut off dogi pants. So wear your gi pants, you nasty peps Freeballn leads to many ring of the bells. An event many guys do want. Well us normal guys dont want to happen |
About 8 years back, on those really hot days in class (AC broke or something), and assuming it was an informal class, I actually wore biker shorts under the hakama a few times rather than the normal pantaloons. It was an idea I swiped from a senior female student.
It was weird for a bit, but it also was very comfortable. I don't do that anymore (just because), but it was strangely liberating. :) *Phil |

What's 'freeballing'?

Well, if you need to know... imagine a guy wearing nothing under that hakama... not even underwear... Me... I wear a cut-off gi pants. Cut up 'til just a bit under the knee. Man, it does get a bit hot down there... |

As for freeballing, I suggest you try it out on koshi-nage night at the dojo. Me, I'm really tempted to wear a tiger-striped G-string under that hakama one of these days... |

You just gave me a visual... Oh.. ugh... can't get it out of my head... HELP... Anyway... those people don't need to do ukemi, we do. The people who train in ninjutsu don't wear much under their Iga hakama either, but they tuck their hakama in their tabi. Much like the army guys tucking their BDU pants inside their boots. So, when they ukemi, their hakama doesn't fly around. You could see their bare flesh through the side slits of the hakama though. That was a bad experience, because it was an old guy. My suggestion, at least where something down to knee level. |
YOU CAN WARE UNDERWARE!!! GEEZZZ The Dans must have been funning with me....

Crazy crazy people... :D
