Re: "Aikido Teaches Culture" Article

"It means we are not allowed to have competitions, matches, tournaments, nothing at all -- just practice," Minegishi said.

"Why do you compete? Are you going to compete with everybody else throughout your life? Your life and my life are exactly the same -- which means you are a unique person, the only you in the world, I am the only me in the world."

"The world is full of conflict. People are closed-minded, they are egotistical and that's why the world is always full of conflict. Is there anything we can do? You start with yourself, and if you can be at peace, it is a start," the sensei said.

Minegishi Sensei seems like an incredible teacher, i hope i can meet her someday. there are so many awesome Aikido Senseis on this earth right now, i wish i had the means to fly around the world and meet them all! perhaps someday...

If Aikido teaches Japanese culture and all the good points that were listed in the article are the heart of Aikido, does that mean those points can`t be found in other cultures? (Of course, the article and its conclusions were those of the reporter, not Minegishi Sensei.)
