Reeling Silk Verbatim
Here is an article written by my very close friend and training mate, Jim Mullen. He and I exchange principles, talk about our relationships to Ai Ki and Tai Chi, and often help each other complete and innovate our curriculums. What is significant is how much we help each other teach the same principles in our independent schools and how close the practices are in application.
I hope you take the time to enjoy; www.reelingsilk.com/content/int_mullen.htm I let Jim know that I was going to post this. If you want to share any thoughts with him, you can post them on this thread or you can PM me and I'll pass it along. Other than that, I'd be interested in what anyone has to say about the topic. thanks, Jen |
Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
Dan,
If your going to fly out this way to knock that guy on his arse, would you mind stopping in Barstow? I'd love to learn some things.:D |
Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
I don't know this guy Jim Mullen - but I have to agree with Dan the the tone of the article was a bit too new agey for me to be interested. I'm afraid nothing in the article added to the discussions here about baseline internal skills, fascia, ki-kokyu-jin, or silk reeling.
Never-the-less his teacher, Ted Mancuso is well known and respected. A.G. |
Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
Well I wasn't really being serious. Group hynosis with people feeling wind go by them from 50' away is well in keeping with these shamanistic, energy exchange, gentle people gatherings. I tend to leave them alone, walk away and not talk to them about it. Everyone can "believe" what they want to believe.
Why do they juu...ust have to start with their martially "effective" comparisons. If I had a nickel for everytime some incompetent said "So, did ya feel that" after me feeling not a thing from some thing or other they tried to do to me....sigh. And mores the point, where in hell did silk reeling ever appear in that little bio? I read it twice to see if I missed something.... I'm well on trac with mental imagery in physical training, But hard, sweaty work, should produce concrete results- I suspect it's always been that way. The physical results of work needs no cooperation to believe it.. |
Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
What I want to know is why is this thread rated with 5 stars????
I know Dan didn't rate it that way! :D No one else has had anything positive to say yet...so... Jen, are you rating your own threads??? :sigh: Best, Ron |

Right now I'm on my way to see Harry Potter. I prefer to keep my fantasy leanings separate from my martial arts.:freaky: |

Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
I saw Harry Potter OotP a week ago and finished the last book over the weekend.
I just can't fight the suspicion that I'm a muggle. There was a couple talking at the film that I tried to silence with my ki. When that didn't work, I threw popcorn at them and whispered, "Expeliarmus!" I wish I'd thought of casting the deadly wind at them, but there were a lot of innocents around . . . oh well, back to sweating and training. |

Re: Reeling Silk Verbatim
And with that I will stop hi-jacking Jen's thread. Jen has always been very nice as well as helpful to me and I appreciate her for that. I can't say so much for Dan.
So Jen, if you are reading this thread anymore I apologise if I have offended you or your friend in any way. |

Don't worry. I can tell the difference between good natured ribbing and ........whatever that other thing was. It comes from many years of shamanistic meditation....ummmm-diggy-diggy-diggy. Ha,ha,ha. :grr: --ha,ha,ha-:grr: uh-oh. The peyote's kicking in. (where is that desert hippie icon I was trying to steal from you before?) |
