Breaking Bricks with Karate..

Re: Breaking Bricks with Karate..
Think I might have already done enough aikido training to do that :)
But I think the words of the late Mr Miyagi Sensei are worth reflecting on here: Daniel San: You think you could break a log like that? Mr Miyagi: Don't know. Never been attacked by a tree. :p  |

used to do that (not as bad as the dude) because the bricks were disrespecting and looked at me funny. wasn't going to have none of that! after i got out of karate, i discovered a great deal of power in the mean of sledge hammer and jack hammer. worked so much better after that.
question, what happen if you are being attacked with a brick? i learned from John Cleese shihan techniques to defense against fruits, but don't have an idea what to do with bricks. what if the brick made out of cheese? what if you are in the middle of cheeseheads in Wisconsin? |

Joe Thambu Shihan runs restraint and removal courses, I seem to remember he may have owned a security company in Melbourne (could be wrong). Found this youtube clip of part of his course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-3IZP62KA |

I once tried to break bricks with Hai Karate but just broke the bottle. :(

Joe - Imaizumi Sensei (Shin Budo Kai NYC) recorded a Aikido for Police video years ago that included using Aikido in a 'proactive manner' to arrest or detain people. You can contact the dojo to see if any copies are still available.
It is an interesting take on your normal application of Aikido. |
