Plastic Jo & Bokken (Aikido Plastic/Synthetic Weapons)

Hi. I've been looking around and couldn't find any. Well, maybe except a bokken (or is it "bokuto" ?). :( Does anyone know where can I find a plastic jo ? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know where to find the plastic jo.

But, most sword arts and other arts use bokuto instead of bokken. They mean the same thing.

Playwell do a pretty nice 'unbreakable' PVC jo.

I also found this site. The red one looks nice... What do you think ?

And isn't somewhere on the web a complete aikido PVC weapons pack ? Complete as in bokken, jo, tanto (a standard rubber knife would do) and sturdy bag that can fit all of the above. Whichever way I looked I couldn't find either a nice synthetic bag (only leather and cheapo's) or a plastic bokken (I don't see any on playwell except maybe covered with foam... meh).

I would hate to have to resort to two or three different websites because the shipping fee would be worth more than the actual merchandise (which I believe it already exceeds, btw).

Cold Steel sells a polypropylene bokken and tanto:

The 2nd half of the demo video for the bokken includes a guy swinging it like a baseball bat and slicing a water melon. This leads me to believe the bokken can also be used to make fruit salad :)

The Cold Steel poly bokken does not have a good feel...I trained w/one for about an hour and found it very inferior to Japanese Kashi.

We use the PolyPro bokken for kumi-iai work with plastic sayas. It has less mass than a bokken in case someone gets his fingers or hand smacked accidentally. Other than that it is not very useful. It has so much flex that if you swing full power and then stop your cut abruptly at the same distance you do with your wooden bokken, it can actually flex enough that you smack your partner. Very specialized use in my opinion.

Plastic bokken is ok but jo isn't. And varnished wooden bokken is ok, but jo isn't. Don't waste your money.

Apparently the polypro bokken from Cold Steel can take a lot of abuse (with the drawbacks mentioned above). This may sound odd, but I just prefer the feel of wood... something more natural feeling and comfortable. It's not an environment thing, just like the cool-to-the-touch wood and the weight of it.
