Actually, it would be very interesting to spend some time with Maruyama Sensei...apparently he spent some time in semi retirement working out some skills...

Mike, I think you would find some interesting things in this group. I've felt a few of the students since he started teaching regularly again, and it is quite interesting. Unfortunately, they don't really maintain an online presense. You'd have to actually go to a seminar or a class...

Maruyama Sensei is a very independent thinker when it comes to Aikido. Many traditionalists will find his relaxed manner in class somewhat disconcerting. His technique is smooth and flowing to the point where you think it's all fake; until he throws you that is. His strength is scary and all out of proportion to his 135 pound frame. Beware of his Nikyo, the memory of which will stay with you for a long, long time.

The attainment of correct feeling, natural movement in the application of technique, continual growth as a person and application of Aikido principles to the modern day world are all stressed in his teaching. Anyone choosing to attend one of his seminars or study with him ongoing will find Maruyama Sensei a most engaging and challenging teacher.
