Looking for a dojo in Europe-can u help?
Hey ho.
I'm travelling to Europe in about a month and am looking for dojos that I can train at. Any kind of aikido is fine with me, though my favourite style is that which has passed down from the late Yamaguchi sensei, to Takeda Yoshinobu sensei. This site gives a brief idea. http://www.aikidokenkyukai.com/takedashihan.html Does anyone know of any dojos where any of Takeda shihan's students teach, or his style of aikido is practiced? thanks |

Tissier (7th dan) and Gouttard (6th dan) sensei are both direct students of Yamaguchi; this means France is probably your best bet to find what you're looking for.
They are probably the most renowned sensei in in France and organize seminars around western Europe (France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland). In Italy an entire federation (ADO - UISP) has the Tissier school as technical/didactical referee; you can find dozens of dojo around, their best instructors (V dan) are located in Torino and Roma. For more detailed infos, try: http://www.christiantissier.com/ http://www.aikidoitalia.it/indice.htm (ADO UISP italian dojos) Unfortunately I don't know the corresponding organisation name in other european countries (probably the FFAAA in France), but you can easily find it out with google looking around for "Christian Tissier"... he's pretty famous here in Europe (and one of the few non-japanese aikikai shihan around here). Hope this may help you, have a nice stay here in Europe. |

In Holland, you could look at
http://www.dutchaikikaifoundation.nl/html/frame.php for Tissier - style dojo. Not the style I do, but I've visited, and felt welcome. kvaak Pauliina |

Hi. In Denmark we mainly do Nishio-style, Ki-aikido and Iwama-ryu. If you want to try the first type you can drop by our dojo.
I have never experienced Tissier sensei but from what I have seen on TV he has an awe inspiring precense. Have a nice journey |

Thankyou guys! I appreciate all your helpful info - counting down, 4 more weeks to go before I leave little old New Zealand! Going to see if I can squeeze my dogi into one of my bags...though it's looking pretty heavy...

Are you coming to the UK? If so, you're welcome to stop by us. The club doesn't have an affiliation to the Aikikai or Yamaguchi sensei, but I have trained in Japan quite a bit with one of Yamaguchi sensei's students. He is the biggest influence on my personal aikido :)
