Hi everyone,

So far, we've sold 62 tickets! Thanks to everyone who has supported the fund for Mary Heiny sensei's upcoming hip surgery by purchasing raffle tickets.

I'd like to point out, of course, that there are over 70 prizes in the raffle -- which means that, so far, every ticket is a winning ticket!

Don't forget that every single raffle ticket matters -- both in your chances to win a prize, but also, and more importantly, to support Mary Heiny sensei's upcoming hip surgery.

Please help support Mary Heiny sensei by purchasing a raffle ticket and by letting people know about this raffle. Thanks, everyone, for your support.

Best regards,

Re: AikiWeb Raffle for Mary Heiny Sensei

Hi everyone,

We've sold 131 tickets as of this morning!

But, I think we can do better. So, taking a cue from NPR, I'd like to set a goal that I truly believe we can reach.

I would like to see us all get together to reach the goal of 500 tickets sold by this weekend. This sets the bar pretty high, but I truly believe we can do it!

Each and every single ticket that you purchase helps support Mary Heiny sensei's upcoming hip surgery. So, whether you're buying a single ticket for a chance to win one of the over 70 great prizes or if you're purchasing a large block of tickets to sell at your dojo, every ticket counts!

Please help get us towards selling 500 tickets!Thank you to everyone who has supported the raffle so far.

Best regards,

Will winners have a choice of prizes or are they are awarded randomly? What are the options when someone wins a prize (like a dojo membership) that they cannot or do not want to use? Can people arrange a prize exchange with another winner or otherwise transfer such prizes?

The prizes will be drawn randomly.

Such exchanges would be perfectly fine as would the winner's presenting the prize as a gift to someone else. The exchanges and such would be done personally (ie on their own).

Hope that helps clarify,

Hi everyone,

We're now up to 189 tickets! We still have a ways to go until we get to our goal of 500 tickets being sold, but I truly believe that with your help, we can get there.

Does anyone else have any thoughts as to which of the 70+ prizes would you want to win?

Please help get us towards selling 500 tickets!-- Jun

Tickets purchased! The prizes are all great...I'd be less-interested in the training/membership prizes, though, simply because I'm not at a point in my life where I can travel freely.

Incidentally, our dojo held a benefit for Mary Heiny Sensi on April 20th, and there is a basket for donations on the front counter.

Good stuff. Kudos to the entire Aikido community for stepping up.

I'll second Aaron - the prizes are all great.

Oh, to heck with it - I want the iaito, anything from Mugendo Budogu, anything from Bujin, Terry Dobson's DVD, George Ledyard's DVD's, the first-edition books, the handmade weapons (sorry Jennifer ;) ), Janet Rosen's weapon bag...

Ok, I feel better. Back to lurking :D

Hi everyone,

We're now up to 234 tickets with just a little over two more days to reach our goal of 500 tickets being sold!

Please don't forget that your purchase of even a single raffle ticket will benefit Mary Heiny sensei's upcoming hip surgery. Of course, if you wish to purchase a block of raffle tickets, perhaps for your dojo, that will help immensely towards the benefit.

Please help get us towards selling 500 tickets! Thanks, everyone,

Hi everyone,

We're now up to 248 tickets -- almost halfway there to our goal of 500 tickets being sold!

Tomorrow, April 30th, is the last day for purchasing tickets.

So, if you've been procrastinating to purchase tickets, this would be the time to do so!

Hi Jun,
I'm not sure how important the April 30th deadline is, but our esteemed government is rebating us tax money (must be an election year) and a good number of people won't get their direct deposit rebates until May 16th. I just wondered if the deadline could be pushed back to cover this time period? Say May 20th? I don't know if there's any possibility that you would get all that many more tickets purchased either. Just a thought I had.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

That's an interesting thought. So, I'd like to ask the people here:

How willing would people be to commit to purchasing raffle tickets if we extend the deadline until May 20th, taking in account the tax rebate that many in the US will be receiving?

Speaking as somebody who is seriously jonesing for that rebate, I would have to say "VERY."

She'll be north of Montreal this weekend, and though I likely cant attend much of it, wish I could.

Just bought five tickets.

C'mon people!
Why do now what you can put off to the last moment (like me)!
