This Judo is as smooth as Aikido
[*]The judo you will see at this link is as smooth and effective as any Aikido out there. All techniques executed were video taped under live sparring.

Re: This Judo is as smooth as Aikido
Nice! Good to see you back!
But...Not Mifune yet! :D Now THAT was smooth and effortless. I still see pauses and muscle. Very good timing though. And y'all some monsters! I'd hate to have a match with any of those guys. Best, Ron |
Re: This Judo is as smooth as Aikido
Smoother than any Aikido I've ever seen against a non cooperative attacker.
Good Judo, good martial arts. |
Re: This Judo is as smooth as Aikido
Heck, great judo, great martial art...but the standard advertised was aikido...not judo.

Re: This Judo is as smooth as Aikido
Monty,
Great clips. I wonder if what the Aikido guys are saying has to do with a dfferent set of principles being used in Mifune-style and modern Judo. Mifune Judo was different that "driver leg" Judo. I had the chance to train in Masato Tamura's style of Jujitsu in the 1980's to present. At the same time, I was training in USJA Judo al la Phil Porter's leadership. Big differences in how leverage was created. Big differences in how Kuzushi is obtained. Some of the greatest modern Judo I have ever seen is at the Olympic level. And it seems to be getting better. Some say Mifune's stuff would no longer work against the new athletes. I am not of that level of Judo to test it and am a bit too broken up to try. But I know that the principles I use in my Yanagi Hara Ryu are consistent with how my Tamura-style jujitsu teacher moved. One way or another, the smoother any principles are applied (driver leg or Mifune-style), the lighter and more fluid movement becomes and some form of aiki is present. |

Good control, technique clearly illustrated. Good technical display overall.

Way too much muscle, no real kuzushi, poor posture, too much time spent trying to not get got instead of getting and/or using the other persons attempts to get. Someone mentioned Mifune. That's some damn good judo right there. Sports judo has gone all to crap. Thanks for the link though. Regards, |
