Yasuhisa Shioda Resigns

This is interesting - I'm not really hooked into Yoshinkan affairs, anybody know more?

Very intriging given chida sensei's "departure" a few years ago! Who is the next yoshinkan kancho? Like you Chris I am not kinked in here, although I practised in north London in the early 80s when Shioda Yasuhisa taught around the corner and he was as we say in Britain - marmite - you either loved him or you didn't.

I used to train with some Yoshinkan folks in Japan, and at that time (before Chida left) Yasuhisa had just made the Dai-ni Hombu Dojo (Hombu Dojo #2). But even then I wasn't really plugged into the politics.

Best,

Chris

Interesting situation... Coincidentally, I recently heard (2nd hand) that Kyoichi Inoue has taken the helm of the Aikido division of Kokusai Budoin (IMAF). The source is reliable, even though there has been no change indicated on their website.

My understanding is that he just resigned his Kancho title which is different from resigning from the organization.

the "Kancho" title is the important one. The Kancho is the head of the style. He sets out the direction of the style from a technical perspective.

"Soke" is a political, figurehead position. Gozo Shioda's eldest son, who does not do aikido, was Soke for a period of time.
