I can't speak for others. I may play with such concepts and when I move just move, I really don't think then. Thinking is a distraction from center. This is where a lot of students can't get it because they have to think. At some point one can let go and trust.

I was watching Benson Henderson fight the other night...he wasn't thinking. He was fighting.

What we are letting go and trusting is a set of movement patterns we have installed through repetition, iteration, revision and thought.

Actually what I am letting go is everything. I move in and blend with what is... from a centered state. My mind is open. I never think "oh, i am going do tenshin nage now"...I just do what happens next.

When we are practicing a certain technique...I watch and then do...I accept correction if I need it and then I do again. some students think about everything they do and a lot of strength is lost in the thinking. Muscling and thought make nage weak.

I have never said that thought about technique is wrong...there is a time and place for that....but not on the mat for me.
