In General It REALLY Sucks to Be Me Entry Tools Rate This Entry

We're not going to the seminar. I'm just not well enough yet to be taking falls. (Even if we were, we have no means of transport out there, it turns out). And it's practically unheard of in our circle of practitioners to go to a seminar and not take ukemi. Which is fine by me. I'd rather not go out at all than get there and not be able to perform well. C'est la vie, I guess. Happy now, brain? I hope so.

Hey Kelly --- sorry, I haven't been online often enough these days to check these responses very much. I've been recovering very well and it's been at least a couple of weeks now that I haven't had a single post-concussive symptom...I'm now back to doing regular ukemi just fine. It isn't really falling now that aggravates things so much as it is really fast pivots or quick, tighter ukemi as opposed to ones done over a longer area. Thanks so much for the congrats! Hope you and your family are doing well and if I don't hear from you beforehand, here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year --- hopefully we'll see you again soon! Jamie

I'm sorry to hear that you all will miss out on that seminar. I got the impression while I was there that you all never really missed those seminars very often, if at all. My guess is that sensei is equally dissappionted, as I'm sure Kawahara Sensei will be just as dissappointed. But it is very important that you take care of yourself as if your cuncussion is still giving you nausia then it is a serious concussion. I do hope you get well enough to train soon. BTW I saw the wedding pics on the site. Very good! Looks like you and sensei had a blast! Again congratulations! It looks like I'll be back in the news year, if sensei will still have me.

Thanks, Roy. Unfortunately, it's near unheard of in our circles of Aikidoka to simply go to a seminar and NOT take ukemi. But thanks for the words of encouragement nonetheless!

Ah, Mr. Lee! Good to hear from you. Hope you're settling in all right after the whole transcript fiasco. Eh, they're always new students...they come and go --- you know how it is. ;-) Will have to respond to your blog now!

I've read somewhere in the past that even if you can't roll on the mat, sometimes it's helpful to just sit on the side and participate by observing!

I bet I have it harder than you, Jamie. Guessing from my comment I've posted, you've yet to guess who I am. Hint: during the summer you've probably seen me more in the UW's admission office than the dojo or atleast that's what I think. At least you can still practice. I'm stuck in middle of nowhere! Well, not really, but nothing is close or convenient by bus under Aikido category. Btw, how's everyone else? New members? And, if you still can't figure out who I am, tough beans . -DL
