In General Skipping class. Entry Tools Rate This Entry
  #5 New 04-08-2013 01:00 PM
Today has been one of those days, where nothing has satisfied me or nothing I have done has helped.

In a rut they say.

Not heading to class for the very first time ''because I dont feel like it.''
My attitude wouldn't be beneficial to my other Aikidoka and most like be a good training partner and a crap Uke.

Tomorrow will be different.

Linda Eskin Says:
Y'know, normally I would agree with Makochan, but sometimes you have to follow your gut. I've had days (especially working with horses) where it just felt like everyone would be better off just skipping work. On the occasions I've persisted in spite of my gut, I've regretted it, and often gotten hurt or set back a horse's training or confidence. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

Makochan Says:
When I joined him sensei was 76 and Aikikai 7th Dan, he started at 53; he made a point of passing on his wisdom. 2 things he always spoke about were Kokishin or ‘to win over your own mind' and Kufu ‘to polish the stone'. It is exactly the times when you want to skip training that you should attend and you invariably have a better outcome from that training. We leave our baggage at the door of the dojo on entry and hopefully because we are feeling elated, we forget to collect it on the way out.
