Ah well the madness of self-promotion continues! Perhaps I should form a committee of people I've promoted to ask what grade I should be; but need to make sure it's just before they are eligible for promotion or I might not like the answer.

Hi Joe, Gwynne Jones has been promoted to 9th dan and awarded the title Soke by the committee of Shin-gi-tai Aikido in consultation with other budo luminaries including a 9th dan judoka. He recently celebrated 50 years in Aikido and is 70 tomorrow. Best, Paul

Tell me more! It's not our friend Mr. Poole, is it? The Yoshinkan pioneer Eddie Stratton was, I believe, promoted to 9th Dan after he died a few years ago, but I'm sure that one didn't come from Japan. Alex
