I have a friend, and sometimes our
conversations get a little weird.

I take a phenomenological approach
to the world
. He said

What do you mean? I asked

Well, I view the world based on
my subjective experiences.

So, I replied, you're a Buddhist?

No. Wait. What?
I never thought of it that way.

So, is your subjective approach
working for you?

Well, I tend to get a little depressed.
I despair of finding the Truth

Is that American existentialist despair?
Or, Buddhist despair?

Whoa, wait, what's the difference?

The outcome.

Cresting the Wave

Cresting the wave
Feeling it power
Feeling its surging purpose
Heading headlong towards
Towards the far horizon

But, looking behind me
I see other waves following
Wave after wave after wave
All upon a motionless ocean
Without end...
