I have just completed my first year of aikido training. I want to thank my teacher Toby Kasavan for his extreme patience. He is an excellent teacher. I came to aikido with no expectations. I only wanted to train. I have gained so much from aikido especially when dealing with stressful situations. I have learned to remain more calm when I perceive a difficult situation.
Lastly, based on some things that I have read, some may question if aikido is a martial art. I have lifted weights for 15+ years, boxed, wrestled and have done many types of different physical activities. In my very limited experience I have received excellent workouts in addition to a great deal of pain while training aikido. I, for sure do not question if aikido is a martial art. With this said, I hope to continue training for a very long time.
