TOES!

To preface this, last night was my first time doing an attack from suwari waza...ohh, hard on the knees, especially my hyper-mobile ones.

The night before, however, I was working on shomenuchi ikkyo, complete with pin. While I'm thinking that I'm doing fine while I pin, Sensei stands behind me. I'm waiting to hear the fourteen things I'm still doing incorrectly so I can try and get them in the next set. Instead, he tells me one thing.

"Heh. Toes."

I have a habit of curling my toes underneath my feet, which I've since learned is a huge NO in Aikido. I try again, this time my toes are in the correct position. Sensei moves on, my partner and I keep going. Soon, it's my turn to be nage.

I am on one side of the room.
Sensei is on the other, correcting the more advanced students.

My partner attacks, I go in for the pin. All of a sudden comes the booming voice from above:

"TOES, MARIANNE! So anyway..." ...And he continues with the other group.

Lessons for the night:
1) Toes aren't supposed to go under the feet. They hurt in the morning.
2) Sensei not only utilize the eyes in the back of their heads, they can use them while multitasking.
