On February 11th and 12th we are hosting a very special Seminar which will be suitable for to all martial artists and should be of particular interest to Systema and Aikido pratitioners.

Mikhail Rybko and Vladimir Vasiliev will be teaching together for the first time in the UK.

Last time these two amazing masters of Russian Martial Art taught together was at the Aikido Expo in California last year, and the response was phenomenal. Here is an incredible opportunity to meet the two founders of Systema, to ask questions and to learn how any style that you practice can be improved with Systema training methodology.
Read a review of the last seminar taught by both Mikhail Ryabko and Vladimir Vasiliev at the Aiki Expo HERE (http://www.russianmartialart.com/main.php?page=reviews&pageNum=2&action=retrieve&eID=83&osCsid=7cb271fc3533f336eedf5b001bf1b3e7)

This seminar is open to all martial artists.

We will cover:

• Systema fundamentals: breathing, moving, form
• Holds, releases and escapes
• Work on the ground
• Work against multiple opponents, and work in teams
• Strikes
• Psychology of confrontation
• Work with and against the knife (please bring your own training knife)

This will be an interactive seminar, rather than a lecture, with Vladimir and Michael mixing with the seminar participants and explaining things first hand. You will also have an opportunity to have your questions answered.

I got back from this event late last night. To anyone who could have gone and chose not to, I suggest you kick yourself now.

Mikhail and Vladimir are indeed pretty amazing, as is Systema. Its very "aiki". The training methodology and much of the movement is quite different to the aikido I'm used to, but being at this seminar will definitely benefit my aikido.

We spent the whole day on Saturday striking (with rather more contact than I'm used to), and I think my use of atemi within aikido is likely to change a little bit as a result. At least, I think I'll be seeing opportunities to strike that I would have missed before.

Its extremely refreshing to see a "no nonsense" martial art based so strongly on no posture (as in "mushin mugamae"),on avoidance and on softness. It was also refreshing to train with such a large group of people who're really taking their training seriously but not themselves. The sound of the class was a healthy, happy mixture of "thud, oof" and good natured laughter.

Highly recommended. I'll definitely be training with a few of those folk again the next time I find myself in London with time to spare.
