Actually there's a much deeper meaning to it. Bringing the hands to the middle implies you're bringing everything to "Jin" or the middle ;)
You're not still, but you're not moving either.

And it's not an abstract concept, but rather an extremely physical feeling inside :D

Gassho brings me very nice internal sensations. There is a deeper meaning, too :D
