Hey guys,

Sorry I'm very new to Aikido and I really have to work on my Ukemi and rolling, more so than technique right now.

What's a good website to purchase those blue mats, the ones that have more give and flex than the "regular" mats?

in general $200 would be my limit per mat, and I'm looking for either 4x8 or 5x8.

Look in the supplies/mats section here on aikiweb. Check Swain's portable mats
- http://swainsportsintl.com/f_flooring.htm - could be what you are looking for.

Why buy them? Just go to the dojo early and practice before class and continue to practice after class right up to the point when the next class is about to begin. Saves you money and you get instant feedback on how your doing from someone watching you. Hopefully the person advising you is qualified.

2 3/8" is more than enough padding for practicing rolls on. Even high falls should be fairly comfortable on this, just make sure you have a partner. ;)

way ahead of you! unfortunately there is a Tae Kwon Do class right before mine, and I only get a few minutes in before class. After class, the place closes.

Plus I'd like to work on my breakfalls a little bit every day. I'm a very small guy so good Ukemi is essential.

I think I got mine on E-bay for 200 for a 5 X 10. I ended up buying two brand new mats for $400 or so.

I suggest checking out "folding mats" on e-bay to see what kind of deals you can find.
