ok, this may seem stupid but how do you tie a belt????? Is there more than one way to tie a belt?

Not stupid at all. We all have to learn at some point.

I just found this in a google search:

The way they show on the site is the way I learned it. I don't know any other methods, but I'm sure there are some. It's best to ask a more senior student at your dojo to show you.

There are lots of ways. Ask your teacher or a senior student to show you how its done in your organization.

Sonja, that was a very cool method. Never seen that one before!

Chuck,

many people in our organisation use this kind of knot because it really never comes undone and is also very flat, which is nice when lying on the tummy. I was told, though, that it is actually a traditional karate knot. Also, it is kind of big, so it doesn´t really go underneath a hakama.
