Just wondering if anyone else is using Aiki in relation to coaching or playing football? Bill Sosa and i spoke once about fundemental simularities in the "physical" realm between the two. now my sons want to play and i quit football in the 8th grade ( i was too small).
now i find my self coaching them on KI Application while playing line men etc... it kinda like Rondori without the kicking and punching :D :p ;)

Kashiwaya Sensei did do some training for the Denver Broncos in the 1980's. My understanding is that it didn't continue mostly because of coaching politics.
A senior guy in the Virginia Ki Society was training high school football players in the 1990's. I don't know if he is still doing it.

Saw a guy a while back in a pro game....(can't remember which) who did a pretty creditable sayu-undo- like move. Sort of like watching a hockey check and thinking what a great irimi that was!!
Seems like it would only help to train.

There's a parallel in rugby over here, I found Kokyo works against a player attempting to tackle, moving and letting them throw themselves is a good option but it does take timing and practice, basically not being there when the come to tackle you is the aim. But don't get carried away, shomen-uchi'd someone in the face (instead of handing-off), bust his nose and got sent off...

I know that basic stuff, like irimi and tai no henko, could probably be applied very well on the football/rugby field, but I have no experience in either football or rugby. Try to limit atemi though:p:o
