I am new to the forums and from one of the same dojos as the other person who posted here from Michigan (Ben D.)
Ben got me into aikido in about 1997. I took lessons for about 6 months and never tested for a belt before I moved to England. I didn't take lessons there and was too busy with extra curricular stuff to take lessons when we moved back.
I didn't really get into it again until college. MSU (Michigan State University) has a pretty good aikido club and I will be able to go to classes just about every day this summer due to a total lack of anything better to do in the evenings. We'll see how that goes.
Maybe I will finally test for a belt if I don't have to spend my first 6 lessons getting retaught how to roll without breaking my neck (I can still do it by the way, it's like riding a bike).
That about wraps it up for probably the least experienced person in here despite a renewed interest in "the art of peace" that borders on fanatical.

Hi Jason! I am in Michigan also, so I thought I would say "hello." I am up in Ypsilanti at the moment. I went to the "other school" but it's all good! ;)
Take care!

Hi Jason, I too am from MI (Thomas and I are in the same dojo). Are you practicing with Frank Apodaca or the Yoshinkan school? Frank Sensei has a good group of folks, and Yoshinkan is very strong and prolific in MI. Either case I am sure you will get some good practice in!

Hey, then maybe you are already studying with us....that'd be funny :D The Ben D. you mentioned wouldn't be Ben Doubleday would it? That thought had occured to me but I figured "what are the chances of that?"
